Let’s get hitched

We don’t do “supposed to” here. We do truth over tradition, intention over convention, and we always think of a third thing when we’re listing stuff.

We do documentary-forward process, and cinematic results. Lo-fi grain on black and whites, candids with energy, and a film look without the film cost. True colors, both visually and metaphorically.

There’s no one right way to get married, no script you have to follow. Legally, you’ve got to sign a license, but it doesn’t say anything about whether or not you can have stilt-walkers at your reception, or say your vows in an old bank vault. All the details are up to you. I’ve been doing this for 18 years, photographing weddings on mountains and in concert venues, in backyards and museums.

Introverts are welcome here. I know when to guide you, and when to step back and let the magic happen. I’ll give enough direction to help you look your absolute best, but still feel like yourself.

Let’s embrace the power of slowing down. Opt out of the stress of perfect and embrace a day that reflects what you love. Non-traditional is my jam, and your wedding is about you and the things you value, not me and my portfolio.

Anything can be an adventure, if you look at it in the right light.

You want someone who gets you and your vision, and I can’t wait to hear about it. Let’s have some damn fun.

Wondering if you’re on the right page? I have a very loose interpretation of elopements versus weddings, but my cutoff tends to be at around 50 guests.

Less than that, and you’ll want to check out the elopement sections of my site. More than that, you’re on the right page. Right on the line? Let’s talk.

wedding
or elopement?

you’re in the right place if…

  • Bride watching groom and groomsman playing cornhole at outdoor wedding reception at the Hyeholde.

you totally don’t care about what a wedding is supposed to be, and are just gonna get married however the hell you want to.

  • A bride and groom smiling at each other at their wedding reception, surrounded by guests holding drinks and celebrating in an elegant venue. Hotel Morgan in West Virginia, LGBT wedding.

you want a relaxed, laid-back wedding day, where you get to have fun.

  • A bride and groom holding hands and smiling at each other on a staircase, with the bride in a wedding dress and the groom in a vest and tie, seen through decorative chains and a chandelier. Hotel Morgan in West Virginia, LGBT wedding.

you’re up for a little adventure, and maybe a little exploring weird spaces for portraits

  • Bride and her father exchange a special inside joke as he walks her down the aisle, black and white, outdoor ceremony at the hyeholde

you’d rather capture spontaneous, honest, imperfect moments than fashion magazine style

  • A dog wearing a floral wreath lying down on a shiny white floor during a wedding ceremony, with people standing and sitting around, and a bride in a white dress in the background. Hotel Morgan, LGBT wedding, West Virginia.

you’re excited to share your day with the people (and sometimes dogs) you love most, because a family can be whatever you make it.

  • A bride and groom dancing on a wooden dock by a lake with green hills in the background on a sunny day. Microwedding at Rich's Farms.

you want your photos to not just reflect how you looked, but how your day felt. to tell the whole story.

“Caroline photographed our wedding on Halloween. The pictures are beautiful! Caroline understood our aesthetic and was friendly and easy to work with. We couldn't be happier! - Jeanine
