Three Things: I've Learned from Wedding Receptions

People tend to get a little nervous when I bring the camera out on the dance floor. Here's a few tips I've picked up over the years, to put your minds at ease a bit. 1. You only have to look cool for like, 1/125th of a second.Almost everyone pulls this off. And those shots that are honestly unflattering, and not just sort of funny in a really endearing way, get deleted. I will admit to having a quick laugh about it before flagging it to delete. But in that case, you're just helping me get through my work day, so it counts as good karma. Win-win. 2. Nobody knows/can agree on what "Charlie Brown" means. You know, that bit in the Cha Cha slide where everyone just looks vaguely confused for a minute and then laughs? It's not just you guys, I haven't seen a single wedding party that could agree on what the guy wants from them. 3. EVERYBODY loves Journey. It's science. If you're sitting there thinking "Nuh uh, I don't like Journey," you're just lying (to the INTERNET, for shame). Even if you'd never listen to it on your own time, if it comes up at a party you will kick the high note, and you will throw your hands in the air on "somewhere in the night." Science. I'll throw in a fourth here, I can only shoot what there is to shoot. So do the lovely couple a favor, and have some fun. In exchange, you know at the end where you got a little bit past tipsy and busted out your Milli-Vanilla impression? I'll keep those off of Facebook where your boss/mother can find them (but they may end up going to said lovely couple, so choose your response carefully when they ask you to help them move.) Have a question?
